Theodore Johnson, II, MD, MPH
Professor and Chair
On behalf of our talented inter-disciplinary team of clinical providers, medical educators, trainees, and researchers, I want to welcome you to the Department of Family and Preventive Medicine’s website. Our department is uniquely qualified to provide comprehensive team based primary care medical services, interdisciplinary health professions education and research in community-based settings in the metropolitan Atlanta area. We are sincerely committed as patient advocates to the concepts of patient and family-centered care to assure that our current and future patients have the needed access to comprehensive services. We believe that every person should have a regular primary care provider, who knows their health problems and personal values, and will facilitate their primary and specialty care needs in a timely fashion.
Our primary department goal is to help our patient partners to gain the knowledge and skills to prevent disease and maintain a high quality of healthy life. As members of the Emory Academic Health and Teaching Center, we are fortunate to have the resources and educational environment that stimulates scholarly activities and promotes team-based medical care based on the most current research. We truly care for our patients and their families. We love to teach our residents, medical students and other health professions students, and we love to learn from our creative students, patients, and community partners.
We hope you will take the time to investigate our department website and that the information provided here will assist you in finding a provider, learn about our residencies and other educational opportunities or our research activities and community service initiatives, or help our alumni and community partners maintain their relationship with our department.
Thanks for visiting our website.
